The Rotary Club of Bedford, NH, founded in 1969, is a member of the Rotary International District 7870 (Southern Vermont and Southern New Hampshire). The Club has approximately 55 members and serves the Town of Bedford (near 20,000 strong) at the southwest corner of the Manchester metropolitan area. We are 55 miles from Boston Massachusetts, 50 miles to the western Vermont border and the eastern New Hampshire seacoast, and 50 miles to the skiing of the White Mountains. We are ALMOST at the physical center of geographical New England!
We have several community service opportunities including our major New England road race The Bedford Rotary Memorial Road Races (5K and 12K) which occur in May, our PASTA NIGHT in April where we serve over 700 fancy Italian dinners, our REVERSE RAFFLE NIGHT in November which features a grand prize of $10,000 for the last ticket drawn (350 tickets maximum sold), our conducting of the Special Olympics Swim Meet for our handicapped community in February, our Senior Citizen Christmas Luncheon where we honor our Rotarian of the Year and our local Business Person of the Year celebrated with our Rotary Band/Ensemble conducted by Paul Bordeleau, and we support many other local and international activities.
On February 23rd this year, The Club celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Rotary International with the installation of the Centennial Clock in fron of our Town Hall. It is GPS controlled and accurate throughout the year. Please visit the Town Center!
We have weekly speakers attend our meetings and the topics range from "politics" to "gardening" to "social issues" to whatever (see our Speaker's Page Click Here).
Bruce Flegal, our Club Auctioneer (one of our internal meeting fundraisers), describes a fine wine from California for a winning bid.... even describing the brown paper bag it comes in too!
